Plot Overview

Suikyo lived and trained in the Sanctuary since he was very little, along with his little brother Suisho. During his upbringing in the Sanctuary he became good friends with Shion and Dohko whom he trained with. Eventually he became the Silver Saint of Crateris, as a Silver Saint he was respected as a man who lived for justice and to protect others. However, his little brother was very ill at this time and Suikyo kept begging for Athena to save him. A Specter eventually then appeared, claiming to have come for Suisho's soul. Suikyo trid to attack the Specter to no avail, but the Specter gave him the unexpected offer to join Hades' army and his brother's soul wouldn't have to suffer in hell after he dies.
Suisho eventually died and was put in the Sanctuary graveyard to rest. Suikyo was ordered to go on a mission by the Pope and entrusted Shion and Dohko to look after Suisho's grave as he departed.
During a raging snow storm somewhere in Italy, Suikyō caught Tenma sneaking away after stealing the belongings of the boy named Alone, Hades' chosen vessel for his soul in the 18th century.

After returning to Alone in the cottage nearby and finishing scolding Tenma, Suikyō was convinced by Alone that Tenma didn't steal his belongings. The night was extremely cold because of the snowstorm. Suikyō took the boys close to himself and warmed them with his body heat, so they could survive. Thereafter, Suikyō and Tenma strongly bonded emotionally, Tenma became the disciple of the Crateris Saint and was trained by him to become the Pegasus Saint.

After sometime, Suikyō disappeared, never responding to summons from Sanctuary. Tenma lost contact with him, and never talked to him again until he resurfaced as Garuda Suikyō, of the Divine Valiance Star, much to Tenma's, Shion's and Dohko's shock.

Upon returning, Suikyō seemed a different man,
ready
having forgotten his loyalty to Athena and to his comrades, the Saints, as he didn't hesitate to kill Shion and Dohko, and even his former pupil Tenma, when he was ordered so by Gryphon Minos previous incarnation, Gryphon Vermeer, to prove his loyalty to Hades. Only Pandora's summoning stopped Suikyō of fulfilling Vermeer's commands.

As they arrived in back in Hades' Castle, Pandora had sensed something in the Sanctuary. A report from a guard stated that Athena had arrived to the Sanctuary as a baby. Pandora didn't hesitate for long and sent Suikyo to eliminate the infantile goddess. Vermeer protested about it now that he knew Suikyo had once been a Saint, yet Pandora said it would be their advantage instead. Now that Suikyo already knew the secret paths of the Sanctuary he headed straight for the Aries Temple with a cadre of Specters.

Suikyo knew the secret paths of Athena's Sanctuary and made it to the Aries Temple without any resistance. As he prepared to face Aries Mu, he noticed his former apprentice Pegasus Tenma, and Andromeda Shun heading towards the Taurus Temple.

Concept & Creation

With the release of the Saint Seiya Encyclopedia Kurumada showed the Crateris Cloth for the first time to the world. With the release of Next Dimension he made a Saint for the Cloth, though in an updated form to reflect the previous war. In the first image Suikyo had more flat hair, but was later redrawn to be more fuzzy.

Beyond Next Dimension

Classic

Reputed to be the most powerful of the Three Judges, the Garuda from the Classic series suffered from a rather bad case of ill luck. Within minutes of his introduction, Aiacos was locked in battle with Phoenix Ikki. Incapable of imagining that a Bronze Saint, no matter how well-known, could pose a serious threat to a Judge, the Garuda never saw his death coming and it is smack in the center of the cross he had just traced on the ground to mark Ikkis’ grave that Aiacos was swiftly and unceremoniously buried.

Lost Canvas

Aiacos, the last Judge to be introduced in Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, proved far more tenacious than his Classic counterpart. Brutal and ruthless, the Garuda took Sainthood head on in an epic battle between the Ship of Hope and his own armored vessel. It would take all the might of Sisyphos, the Sagittarius Gold Saint, to defeat him. And the affection of Behemoth Violate, his Second-in-Command to remember the man he once was.

Like most characters in The Lost Canvas, Aiacos exhibited a new technique, the "Galactica Death Bring".
