Cloth History

Mythology: Woah, Black Betty! (Bam-A-Lam)

Andromeda was the daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia, whole ruled Ethiopia as King and Queen respectively. Queen Cassiopeia bragged that she was more beautiful than the Nereids, Sea Nymphs who accompanied Poseidon, god of the sea. Poseidon, in retribution, sent the sea monster Cetus to assault their kingdom and Ethiopia. Andromeda had to sacrifice herself, or the monster would not stop. She was chained to the rocks naked as a sacrifice. The hero Perseus, having just slayed Medusa, arrived and defeated Cetus, saving, and eventually marrying Andromeda. Upon her death, Andromeda was placed in the sky as a constellation by Athena. It is unknown if the Black Saints share constellations with their counterparts, or if it's simply a symbolic gesture to look like other Saints.

Classic: In His Universe, Even Bishonens Have Beards!

Black Andromeda trained to be a Black Saint on Death Queen Island (like all Black Saints) by an unknown master. The cloth was likely kept on Death Queen Island until a man strong enough, and wicked enough, to wear it was found. Like all Black Saints, Black Andromeda was an evil man who fought with rather deadly moves, and intense loyalty to Ikki. Black Andromeda first appeared in volume 3 of the manga, as the one who takes the body of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth. Black Andromeda eventually fights Shun, but is taken out by Shun's Chains. He was left half dead from his wounds; the Silver Saints were tricked into killing three of the Black Saints at least.

LC/ND: Previous War

No Black Cloths have been seen in the previous Holy War at this point, and likely won't, as the Black Saints oppose Athena.

Cloth Design: The Black Queen

Classic Manga: Snake Oil Salesman

COBRAS! COBRAS!!!

This is the form the Andromeda Black Cloth takes during the original Saint Seiya series' manga. Black Andromeda earned the cloth on Death Queen Island, and it was first seen when Black Andromeda appeared at Ikki's side in volume 3. Like most Black Cloths, it is very close in design to the original versions of the Cloth they were named for. The cloth, much like it's namesake, uses chains as weapons, those these Black Chains can turn into life-draining snakes. Kurumada didn't put a whole lot of effort into this design, because it's the same design as the Andromeda Bronze Cloth, but black. The Cloth was last seen on Mt. Fuji, when Shun defeated Black Andromeda, damaging his Cloth.

Classic Anime: Black is Beautiful

"...Even in black, I'd look girly...damn you, brother!"

Properties

Special Abilities of Black Cloth of Andromeda

The Andromeda Black Cloth has Black Chains that can be used as weapons. What differs these chains from the original Andromeda Chains is that he can turn them into living snakes to attack.

Techniques used by Andromeda Black Saints

Black Andromeda uses one major techniques during the series.

"Black Fang Nebula"

"Black Fang Nebula" is an offensive technique used by Black Andromeda on Shun. The technique differs vastly from anything in Shun's repertoire, in that it alters the form of the Black Chains. The Black Chains transform into snakes that latch onto the opponent, and begin to gradually suck the life out of them.
