dragon ball may have been made earlier than SS, but the anime did not end until 1996. (not counting GT)
Which gave DB an advantage animation wise.

plus DB had a way better dub if you compare it to SS.

Regardless, the movie will totally bomb big time. I'll see it, but I won't pay a cent. Angry
Justin Chatwin, (who plays the role of Goku) says that he doesn't need to wear a wig in the movie because he already looks similar to Goku. BS!

the main letdown with the Dragonball series was how they wasted the characters.
it is understood that you need new characters to keep things interesting but why completely ignore them after building them up for one entire season like what happened with Gohan in DBZ.

it also gets boring that everybody calls for Goku to save the day, it is understood that he is the hero but there's not enough justification why it has to be him.  As some pointed out, Goku is not necessarily the strongest but greatly implied often with the last enemy that can't be taken down by any characters except for him.

lastly, the ending for GT was really nothing special.  it's like they reenacted the ending for Buu only on a bigger scale. (i really liked Buu saga's final moments).

I for one thought it was cool.
humorous and had a decent amount of action.

jump's anime tour website has it available for free, and in english.

here: http://www.jumpland.com/animetour/db/index_en.html

the catch is... you have to download their video player (broswer) thing.
but it's only 2 megabytes and well worth downloading it.

I really liked the special episode, and the main point, i think, was to bring out the memories of the fans,
not just 25 minutes of battle and powers, but fun and happiness, also bring out characters who
didn't appear often (or not at all) in DB Z (and GT).

I hope in 5 or 10 years we get to see another special episode from Toriyama himself, again. Cheesy

The Jumpland special was awesome. It was like seeing an old friend that went away for years and came back. Considering how well received it's been, I'm hoping that Toriyama and TOEI will consider doing a revival, similar to Saint Seiya. Something like an OVA every six or so months would be great.

As for the live action movie, there's a new trailer. It's not bad, and it definitely should be viewed as its own separate entity from existing materials. I'll go see it.

I've watched that thing. The voice of Yamcha back in the day was the same guy as Seiya. I think in that new OVA I heard the same voice but I'm not sure. He didn't say much....

It sounded like they did bring Furuya back, which is interesting since Seiya's newer voice actor plays Tarble in the special.

I thought the new OVA was a major letdown because of a few reasons: 1. Nobody else other than Goku, Goten and Trunks got to fight; 2. Tarble is a total weakling and why even introduce him into the series?; 3. Vegeta wasn't himself at all (I mean he was actually polite wtf?); and lastly, Goku saves the day again (woohoo....)

It's nice that Vegeta got a family atleast! And Vegeta was nicer towards the end of the series, and voila some time later he's even more polite! ^^

I just bought the whole manga! Cheesy

Now i will have some reading to do xD

It will get me in shape for the upcoming DB Online game coming out, which is a follow up on the manga circa 400 years later ^^

I'm really concerned about the DB Live Action film coming out in April and about how it might ruin the image of the DB franchise forever. In 10 years people probably won't even know what the original series are!
