Well, I'm still waiting for a sample video and/or screenshots.
I would also like to ask you Seiya, what is the exactly length of time from the first episode?
I'm curious to know if the new Blu-ray raws will screw with our Aegisub subtitles files... =_=

judging from these the quality looks pretty good.

btw does anyone know if these box sets include the hades chapter as well?
i would love that in HD

I think this is unlikely to happen. The Hades Chapter was made not in cell handmade animation, it was made with computer animation in SD format, so it will be an upscale anyway.
That's why we will never see HD versions from animes which were made in this "in between" period where animation companies stopped to draw handmade stuff and switched to computer animation doing it straight in SD because HD wasn't the standart format yet.
Animation companies already made their statements about Bleach, Naruto early series and Katekyo Hitman Reborn that there will be no HD format for them, for example.

The only advantage about Hades Arc in Blu-ray could be reduction of the DVD compression artifacts and noise reduction. And maybe, maybe a better audio track.
Still, I think this is unlikely to happen since the other famous series which I mentioned above didn't get Blu-ray versions.

It's okay, no need to feel sorry.

The first disc is avaliable at AsianDVDClub now. Ironically the screenshots were hosted in a Russian image host and the images are broken.  :-_-U:

I'm thinking if I will download this or not, but if I do, I would try to share some images here. The first disc size is 45.48 GB, and in AsianDVDClub, "Only 50% of the download amount is counted for Blu-ray torrents" and at this point, everybody is uploading to everyone, so I'm tempted.

If anyone have an account, here is http://asiandvdclub.org/details.php?id=81850

Welp, it's a question of time to anyone download this, convert, and post at Nyaa as well, so maybe I will wait.

I don't know...  :roflcat:

Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn!

That remaster looks great!

I speculate that we will hear something about Saint Seiya at Anime Expo. If we do, I hope it includes this Blu-Ray.

Still hard to judge from the TV pics from that french reviewer.

Remember this case...

Upscaled HD remaster of Sailor Moon that Viz is streaming on Neon Alley:

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/75490
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison.php?id=74998

If at least the uploader at AsianDVD didn't upload the screenshots at a Russian image host which is still down... =_=
Thank god, I didn't download the first disc, neither bought it (as expensive those boxes are).

Ladies and gentleman, it's an upscale. The Russian image host is back, and I saved the images and uploaded again at postimg to make sure everybody will see it.

Comments: This is NOT HD, for sure. This is a fuxxing upscale guys. This is veeeery similar to the Galaxy Express 999 upscale.

As Zhou said in our project thread at bakabt:

It looks similar to the Galaxy Express 999 upscale, with lots of smeared edges, and I'm also disappointed about the colors. As in the DVDs, the red on Seiya's Cloth and tights looks almost pink-ish, while skies that are supposed to be blue look green-ish.

It WILL look better in a LED TV with vivid colors, for anyone who previously watched the old DVD remasters full of grain and "bleached" colors, but at the cost of detail removal. And I think it's quite unfair to take a lot of money from people for an upscale. Not that Toei cares.

As Hoj said at bakabt, very disappointing.

I guess his decision will probably stick with his encodes, since he did the best work to keep as much detail as possible. And, in my tests at Sony Bravia TVs, it already looks great.

This IS HD:

http://postimg.org/image/fgatkhbhv/

http://postimg.org/image/q1e8zzvbp/

http://postimg.org/image/9taf3i7gt/

Anyway...

Edit: Here is a screen from Hoj's encode.

Look at the stars in the sky in this image, and look at the stars in the upscale screen posted above, and tell me which one have more details...

Toei Q-Tec upscales fuxxing everything again...

Sorry guys, I just think this is unfair.

Edit 2: Now Hoj answered me, and said that they used the filter "line darkening", which he didn't use in his encode because it looks "unnatural". They also used "debanding" to remove the grain, something that he used in his encode. But to "calculate" how much you have to use to not lost detail is another story...

Edit 3:

A frame of the Pegasus Fantasy from the movies, to compare with the upscale screen above:

Whoa, this is looks pretty clean!

Although, I think they could tightened up the color correction
to make it feel for brighter. Similar to what they did to the
DB: Kai Footage.

wow, Dragonball is too bright for me. ~Halfway between those two would be more to my preference.

Looking nice, Hoj and Ritsuka, very excited about your project.

Personally, I think Kai looks better. The original looks too saturated. I don't remember the show looking that saturated, though.

As for the Blu-Rays, I think they look fine. My only issue is that some parts of the animation look a little milky.

You don't really think about how saturated it is until you see how much they can improved the footage. Without Kai, I may have not
even mind.

And I agree with the Saint Seiya Animation. It sort of has that 'wet-paint effect' to it in some shots.

I'm glad it pleased you.  ;D

It's just a question of time, "haste is the enemy of perfection."

Well, more screenshots from the upscale. I will just post the links because the images are too big.

http://i.imgur.com/mQfyEpX.jpg the "line darkening" filter really looks "heavy" and ugly for me. Probably this filter is to give a better definition to the lines, and give a fake "HD" look, but still, it looks so ugly for me... Plus it mixed with this color scale. I must agree with the "wet-paint effect" comment.

I just wish this person posted everything in a zip.

It's probably the TV or...the specific image...mine didn't look crappy at all. Anyway I have to get back to the States to watch more tho I doubt that it will change my mind..

The same Marin scene from Hoj's encode. It doesn't have the wet-paint look.
As I said, he didn't darkened the lines so, the lines looks closer to the original DVD transfer/remaster.
