Yep that's Tamora Pierce's book and I love it too!  I have most of her books, they just happen to behind other books and hidden from sight.  I've been a fan of her's for years so I had to pick Terrier up the moment it came out.

'course!
I love that that's what drew my eye, out of all those books, that were really too far from the camera to read their titles...
Did ya hear what else she's working on?

I knew that Terrier was part of a trilogy, but I didn't know that the other two.

I've read all her Tortall books and all of her Magic Circle books too.   Own all of her books except for Wolf Speaker and Page.

I've only read the Magic series (all 9 books).
"For the Will of the Empress" left me unsatisfied for the reason that it left alot of background information out (like what happened to Briar in that war).  I don't know if there's another book out that chronicles what happened between the last 4bks and that one.

There's a couple of series who's endings had me going "wt@?"
HP7 being one (What happened to Harry-tachi inbetween? What professions did they choose? Why are all the kids staring at Harry as he's seeing his kids off? It can't be because he's "the boy who defeated Valdy," it's gotta be something more recent like he's a prof. quiditch coach or something).
The other is "Gregor the Overlander."  Did the family move to the Underland or did they move to Virginia?

(btw- I read a lot of childrens/ya lit because I can get it incredibly cheap from my employer)

I'll agree with you about "For the Will of the Empress".   It felt like I as jumping in during the middle of a series when I picked it up, and because of that I couldn't into the book until the end.
