I guess, that's as much as we'll see of Palestra.  Not enough information was provided about Eden to care for him. I won't compare Eden to Ikki as many did.   Ikki's background is really hard to match.

Indeed. I'm assuming Haruto is the Hyoga to Eden and Ryuho's Ikki and Shun, so in that sense it's reminiscent of how the Galaxian Wars played out, where it pretty much came down to Hyoga and Ikki.

maybe fights won't last that long, but if so it makes sense. So far, Soma figures to me more like Hyoga.  Similar past story, same sharp attitude, stays and goes along with the rest of the group... eeeh shattered ancient glacier. bleh!

It's not only fans that are comparing Eden to Ikki. That's how Eden is being officially described by Omega's production team.

Though they also say that he, Eden, is suppose to have different motivations than Ikki, whatever that means.
