Actually this feels more like a homage. The only time she tried to one up was Athena Exclamation with her Zodiac Exclamation.
The only thing I can think of is "why now?" Couldn't they have attempted earlier, you know, before everyone died, instead of just standing there for several issues? And now that we see that Sasha is alive and well, with barely a scratch on her, hopefully she won't spend next issue cradling Tenma's broken body and flashbacking while her poor two Gold Saints fight.

                      Canvas is a prequel to Original Saint Seiya and because of this event; Dohko gained the knowledge of how to destroy the Wailing Wall.

But in the original Hades Saga, the only one that was truely beaten was Seiya after getting stabbed. The other Saints were just fine and she still did something. In fact, after she got her Cloth, she actually does fight as much as she can.

Personally, I was dreading the return of the Gold Saints until I realized Teshirogi just offered her boys something that Kurumada had cruelly denied them: a chance to land a fat one square in Hades’ pretty face. Those guys worked their butt off in this war and they deserve the satisfaction. Call it a last homage, not to the Wailing Wall, but to her characters, each with his own unique story, personality and motivation.

And I think she’s handling it rather well. An attack by sunlight was needed, both to explain Dohko’s Aha! moment in front of the Wall and to justify Hades’ choice of a solar eclipse to exterminate humanity the next time around. Shion calling the Gold Cloths back is not only well within his ability, but also perfectly in keeping with the character (and I sure am glad he didn’t use the Tenryo Ha again). She’s also cementing Sisyphus’ role as leader of Athena’s army (until a new Pope is named, the guy’s still in charge) and it is entirely logical for the dead Goldies to rally behind him, especially now that Hades is fully awake (or at least as awake as he ever gets). I don’t particularly like it but it holds water and that’s good enough for me. 
I also dig the shield and sword of the Libra getting ripped off Dohko’s Cloth during Hades’ counter attack. Clever Teshirogi is rather clever. She now has the option of replicating the Classic vignette without those weapons ever being used. All she needs to do is have the two Saints pick them up when the battle's over.

Griffin is right. The Goldies aren't doing the classic Wall scene at all. They're actually defeating the REAL Hades. They need to make a mini version of the sun as you see which is eventually explained in the original series. Yep the fact the temporarily revived Goldies actually fighting makes this chapter "cool approved" in my book.
