I think the first one I saw was Robotech. These were my first favorites one too , except for Doraemmon: some of the very first animes I remember watching when I was around 5 yrs old were: Doraemmon Candy Candy Heidi samirai pizza cats and there was also one about bees, but I don't remember the name of it XP (lol I used to watch it every day after school, it was one of my favs, and still can't remember the name XDD)
I just to loved Samurai Pizza Cats made laugh a lot!

For me it was Uchuu Senkan Yamato when I was 5 years old. Followed by Getter Robo, Gaiking, Starzinger, Danguard Ace, Grendizer, Voltron, Mazinger Z, and Robotech. (some at the same time as Yamato, The others came over the next couple of years)

I would say speed racer and G force were my first animes but of course I knew nothing about anime. in 1993 I saw dbz and sailor moon on WB network and then when both shows hit toonami years later(they were previously cancelled on WB) I became obsessed with DBZ and learned that it was anime, from then on I learned about anime and I bought DBZ video cassets with fansubs....at the time I had no idea what the internet was and no clue I could just get that stuff for free......I ended up buying all of dbz and GT and all 13 movies +specials from this little store in my neighborhood and so when it all got to CN I had previously saw it all in subs. Needles to say, after watching DBZ in japanese I learned what anime was, I also soon got a computer and discovered fansubs and the rest is history.

The first anime I official saw was Sailor Moon (English DIC dub) followed by Saint Seiya in LA Spanish dub.
The reality I first started watching anime in a Chinese channel when I was younger. Probably Ranma or Dragonball.

The first anime I ever saw was Pokemon, if that counts. If it doesn't count as 'real anime', then the first one I saw was Record of Lodoss War. Still love it, too.
