It's a cartoon and indeed it is funny.

Very few people are in the anime club at my school and they were watching Code Geass but it was the first episode so I didn't go because I already watched it before. I actually never go to the anime club unless they show something really interesting, all they show are boring anime.
And don't even get me started on the cosplay club.  There are about as much cosplayers that go there as people go to see a shrink.

I think it was either Saint Seiya or Doraemon. They were both pretty popular back in my hometown in late 80s/early 90s.

some of the very first animes I remember watching when I was around 5 yrs old were:

samirai pizza cats
and there was also one about bees, but I don't remember the name of it XP (lol I used to watch it every day after school, it was one of my favs, and still can't remember the name XDD)

Chinese dubbed Sailor Moon. Only the first season though. Channel 8 refused to boardcast anymore.
