I think that the Steel Saint are rather...useless. When they show up to help Shiryu against Algol, they don't really do anything and Shiryu would have been just fine without their so called 'help'. I don't hate them but they don't need to be there either.

They appeared in three fights... and didn't do much in any of them. First fight... Hyoga vs. Babel. And in the manga, Hyoga pwned Babel... which is ironic considering how hard Misty was for Seiya. Second fight... Shiryu vs. Algol. They merely delayed the eye-gouging finale. Third fight... Seiya vs. Arachne. And it was just Sho that time... and he didn't even need to be there, since anime Kiki has the power to summon people's Cloths to them. |

They shouldn't have appeared at all that is what I have to say. Their appearance has been so short-lived. If I didn't see this thread, I would definitely forget that even existed. They didn't do anything much for anybody. It would've been better if Kurumada used other Saints instead such as the other bronze, Jabu, (okay, I don't know any other bronze beside the five we all know and Jabu). I like to see the interaction between the bronze five and other lesser know bronze in the scene where the steel Saints appeared in.

The thing is that after the Galactic Tournament, the five lowest bronze saints (Jabu, Nachi, Ichi, Ban, Geki) were sent to their training camps and they had to pass through all the tests again as they did before they became saints; thus only showing up during the Sanctuary invasion by our fab-five. |

You know... they sorta remind me of "Getter Robo"... what with the three jets that can unite in three ways to form different robots, one built for air combat, one for land, and one for water.
The colors were similar too...
Getter 1 (the sky one) is usually red, Getter 2 (the land) is either blue or white, and Getter 3 (the sea) was gold.
If we switch Ushio and Daichi's colors around, we get a perfect match to the color schemes of Getter Robo G and Neo Getter Robo.
