Hi everyone, you may recall that I started a doujinshi about four years ago and have been slowly adding to it.  I reached p. 35 about a year ago, but it was all in pencils.  It's high time I learned how to do some digital inking and coloring, so here goes!  (The book cover and chapter 1 title page are completely new, and p. 1 is similar to the original but a complete redraw.)

Awesome!  I remember when you said you were going to start doing this, and I've been looking forward to it.  Can't wait to see more!

I appreciate the encouragement -- inks and flat colors of p. 2 are done, I just need to add some shading.  On p. 3, I will need to remove the captions I originally put in place ("Shun, bronze knight of Andromeda," etc.) because it will be obvious enough who is who from the hair colors if nothing else.  Also at least one figure will need to be completely redrawn --  Shun looks way too stiff and dispassionate in his first appearance.

I will try to finish and upload p. 2 today.  In the meantime, if I can find reasonably clear versions of the original pencils of the first seven or so pages, I'll upload them too so that there is at least a bit of story continuity.

I threw out two panels and changed the script.  My older version had Hyoga hitting on Shaina, a thing I could never imagine from the original material.  This version, besides being shorter (and getting by with fewer words is in general better), fits their personalities more to my liking.

OK, now to continue with p. 5 as soon as possible!

Page four is my favorite colored one so far--love the second panel!  And I was distracted from the entire thing by the awesomeness of Shaina's hand in the third panel. 

You're going for thirty more pages through 2011?  That's way hardcore.  8D

Well, I'll try (for the 30 pages that is).  By the way, I apologize for the big long flamey post of mine that was here earlier.  I have deleted it since I think I was just panicking at how slow it's going for me.  For some reason I have the hardest time getting it through my skull that there is no deadline.  I will continue on as normal, and however long it takes me, it takes me.  I am hoping that things speed up as I go forward, since my artwork does improve as the comic proceeds, and thus later pages will probably need fewer corrections than earlier ones.

Although I think it's probably not such a bad idea to work out several pages at once as a sort of illustrated fanfiction, once I get past the redraws and onto new material at least.  It wouldn't have hurt me to do things like that in the first place, to get some practice sketches in before attempting the actual comics pages.

Anyway, I've started inking p. 5, and hope to get a colored version up soon.  Thanks for your patience, those of you who are reading!

Thanks, Okuni Sensei.  These pages are over four years old and need many corrections, including de-manga-fying the style a bit (meaning mainly making the eyes smaller).  It will be slow going as it's still another 12-14 pages before I begin to be at all satisfied with the quality, but I will keep going.  I also have my doubts that cel shading is something I will ever be good at, but I'll keep trying.

Anyway, I colored p. 5 and updated the first post.  I also added a few more pages of old pencils.  Let the record show that I made it to p. 9 before a crying boy happens, and it's neither Seiya nor Shun.

On p. 6 we have the title character's first appearance, which will be enough incentive for me to get started on it.  Everyone knows by now how much of a Pony Boy fan I am.
