ADV has been unsuccessful in retrieving a license for the rest of Saint Seiya. With the way our economy and the Anime industry is right now, ADV can't afford it. They recently took a huge dive in profits, but I believe they picked up Clannad this season, so hopefully the success of that will boost their sales and they can start branching out to more series.

I've heard them say at their Otakon panel a few years back that they would love to finish StS, but for business reasons haven't been able to reach an agreement. I doubt it'll ever happen.

I hope Funimation will finish the job where ADV didn't.

I too sent an email some years ago about licensing the remainder of the series.  I had purchased the thin pack dvd release and when I found out it only went to episode 60 I immediately tried contacting them, but received a disappointing  response just as you.  So instead I finished the series by purchasing the rest of it on ebay. Of course the sub. was mediocre, but I was still able to understand well enough to enjoy and fall in love with it. Plus you can also see subs on youtube as well now.

I hope Funimation will finish the job where ADV didn't.

I had also hoped that, but with titles such as DBZ and now One Piece under its belt I highly doubt they even notice Saint Seiya.

They already finished DBZ and now they took animes from ADV such as Guyver, Slayers, and Ah My Goddess. They could do the same for Saint Seiya. I wonder someone could email Funimation for Saint Seiya?

They are still selling uncut DBZ dvd boxsets so its really not finished for those who only watched the cut versions.  Slayers and Ah My Goddess are also really big hit names in America, If Dic had not dubbed Saint Seiya and it was released here around the early 90's then you would see a much larger demand for its licencing.

The challenge with that is this: Would they listen to you? Sometimes, contacting a company just gets a generic, filled in response that doesn't mean anything. Maybe at a con, or something, you might be able to get some pull with them, face to face.

That's not entirely true. They're just going restructure how anime dvd's are sold in their stores.
Here's the ANN article:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-02-20/best-buy-to-change-dvd-strategy

I went to IMDB...the actors they have lined up (at least for Dohko & Saori) may not be A-list actors,
but they are known. Heck! "Saori" was on American "Dancing w/ the Stars"!

The movie may suck (or a hoax)...but I still can't wait to see how they treat the Cloths. Smiley
