If what I have read is correct, then it was put on a hiatus of two months. Maybe a new chapter is coming along soon? I surely hope it isn't going to be canceled.

L'éditeur italien [Panini] espère ainsi compenser l'arrêt d'Episode G. En effet, le manga ne paraît plus au Japon depuis un bon moment (auteur lassé ?) et il semblerait, selon Akita Shoten l'éditeur japonais, que le volume 17 soit malheureusement le dernier.

I hope he's just finishing his original work, and will come back later on Ep. G he can't left the serie wide open like that.
The fact there's no date of return may just say that he don't know when he'll be fine with his original stuff.

I don't think Masami would have told him to hold on, he has no interest in it : he still receives subsidies for each book sold :p

I have never heard any numbers about how well EpG sold in Japan. Can anyone try to find that out? I have the impression that EpG seems to have been less well received than LC, and maybe that could be a problem, too?

Yer, it was troubled from the beginning. J fans actually objected it.  But later Champion said that it was popular... Were they lying to keep face???

For me the most logical thing could be they didn't want 3 Seiya works to complete at the same time, 2 might be more than enough... And if they see G as a dead-weight and not earning enough money they can drop it. I mean they said the same thing of the Fuma no Kojiro work that was published in Red, and that Fuma manga never came back... : |

As far as I know it's still simply on hyatus to allow Okada to move forward with Shadow Skill and another manga he is working on. It should be back at some point.
Popularity wise, it was actually better received than LC, at least in the beginning, but now the latter has got the upper hand, having been championed by Kurumada and having an anime too.

I admit putting Ep.G will be more difficult, and may cost a bit more ^^;
But that's would be interesting.

Actually no, the J fandom did not like Ep. G from the very beginning. This was said in J Wiki and then much much later when Champion said it was popular, Wiki removed that statement. LC was always the one that sold well and more popular...

Is there any chance to dig out the sales numbers for EpG and LC somewhere? *curious*

The real topsellers are always listed in those Top20 or Top30 lists, but LC was there only very rarely, IIRC, and I never saw EpG there at all.

I wouldn't trust Wiki on this, it could have simply been the opinion of the writer, but anyway I'm referring to across the world, not just Japan
For example for a while in Italy G has been the second best selling manga behind Soten no Ken only, whereas LC has never been higher than 4th (although now G has dropped due to the long time passing between issues). But even in Japan, they wouldn't maintain 2 editions with colour pages and gadgets if the sales weren't good. Regardless of the profits, deluxe editions are always expensive to do.

In Germany,  EpG was published for a while, but with Vol.10 they cancelled the publication here.
