I'm still betting that they're gonna make Aphrodite a female.

Quick question. How many episodes does the 2nd volume contain?

I believe it's EP 31 to 60.  ADV only released 60 episodes so the two collections is all their work cut in half.

Yeah they changed him into a female in the french dub (from what I heard) also I think they also did the same in the chinese dub. But I could be wrong with the english dub cuz they didn't change Misty, if they don't change Aphrodite then I'm happy. Cuz America is being retarded and the people who live here have a problem with it, well they'll have to deal with it. There I'm happy now :D

This reminds me of something I wanted to say a while back but forgot to.

About 2 weeks ago I went into my city's Suncoast and found 5 box sets of Saint Seiya and over 12 singular DVDs when just a month ago there was literally NO Saint Seiya to be found anywhere. It really surprised me. I would have bought the lot is I didn't already own it...

I look forward to what the future will bring.

Unfortunately, ADV will not be continuing Saint Seiya.

Why you ask?

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-09-01/adv-films-shuts-down-transfers-assets-to-other-companies

Because ADV is no longer in existence.

Aesir Holding Company now holds all rights to Saint Seiya in America, but there's no word on whether they're going to transfer it to another company, sell it off, or just eliminate it all together. All considering, I think it's safe to say we will not be seeing any more of the original Saint Seiya anime in America.

That's sad =/

Maybe if Lost Canvas raises interest the buyer of ADV will continue the dub...

By the way - correct me if I am wrong: there were two dubbings, the first by DiC and the second by ADV. Up to which episode did DiC dub Saint Seiya?

PS: I have a link to the anime in youtube up to episode 58. Where do I post it?

If you want to contribute episodes, hit up the 'downloads' section of the forum.

DiC did have a dub of StS, but ADV got the rights from them. It HAS been confirmed that StS along with all other ADV assets have been passed on to a new studio, but still no word on what the studio plans to do with them.

That's a great ADV blog to check out and keep up on what's going on. A day sad for Anime fans everywhere for sure.

Yeah, ADV had their hands in DiC's production of "Knights of the Zodiac" as well as their own uncensored and uncut version of "Saint Seiya."  In 2002, I attended the San Diego Comic Con with a friend and we spoke to several officials at various booths.  The word had been going around that ADV was going to crash due to spreading themselves out too thin production wise, which costs heaps of money, and trying to buy up every anime title possible.  I didn't pay much attention to it at the time but when ADV released Volume 12 with production errors and no release date was announced for Volume 13 I started to believe it.  Now with ADV titles and staff transferring to Section23 Films, I'm not surprised.  With this new change, I can only hope that they continue SS.

Cheers

I know that ADV is now Section 23, and that they're still releasing new anime titles, under the Sentai Filmworks label, but mainly as Japanese sub-only sets (no English dubbing.)

If they still end up going ahead with Saint Seiya, they may end up finishing the series as sub-only sets. I surely wish they would finish releasing the Sanctuary arc at least...

But given the state of the US anime industry and the lack of interest in "old-school" anime within the current market, it's very doubtful we'll see the rest of Saint Seiya TV released on DVD in the US... We may MAY see the newer SS anime (the OVAs, Lost Canvas) released in the US, since those are newer titles, but even that's slim to none.

And it also says the successor of ADV are interested in it too.
