I don't have any Pandora boxes in my collection but I'd say you're right.
They are too heavy to be carried by any SCM figure.  The straps are probably just for show.

So far I've only seen them displayed together as a set.

yeah, they won't even fit as the stripes are too tight for a full armoured MC - but they look so niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice just in front or at the side of a mc on stand with metal plate and medicos figure on the back ;)

Besides if they are wearing the armor, they don't need to carry the empty box around ;)

Considering they always get defeated, the scales, surplices etc have 200+ years to self repair ^^

For those who have the custom metallic ones, aren't they too heavy to go on a figure's shoulders? My "civilian" Seiya struggles to keep his balance with just a plastic box.

I think Bandai designed the box to be used with a stand (to hold the box)....

and the custom metal ones are meant for display only and not accessories for your SCM
