"What the HELL, Camus?" roared Milo angrily. "Why didn't you DO anything?"
The sixteen-year-old Aquarius Saint tilted his head to an angle and gave a strange, twisting half-smile.
"It wouldn't have helped, Milo. Really."
"I KNOW that!" the scorpion shouted, "But at LEAST say SOMETHING! At LEAST make some kind of motion to show you are the Aquarius Saint and will not stand for something like that!" Camus shook his head.
"Milo, I AM the Aquarius Saint and that is why I CAN stand for it."
"I don't get you, Camus." Milo shook his head. "I just don't." Camus's expression twisted again, into a different strange half-smile.
"You don't need to. Your personality, even the path of your Sainthood, will most likely flow with your impulsiveness and action; as the Scorpio Saint, that is what you SHOULD be, to the very end. But I...I am Aquarius--mystery, ice, and calm. My Sainthood is based on my ability to take anything the world gives me, and let it go with a smile."
"But...but...you're MUCH more powerful than any of them. You could have just showed them you weren't afraid of them," Milo added petulantly, almost begging.
"No." The other shook his head. "That would have made things much too complicated. Remember, Milo, we are Saints--our only enemies are our goddess's enemies. We cannot afford to be selfish."
"I know." Silence. "But next time, if you don't do anything, I WILL. I can't stand seeing them so arrogantly thinking they're THAT much better than you."
"Next time, Milo? As Saints, will we even have a next time? You see, it is not that I do not CARE about my pride. I simply have learned to keep my own, because there are more important things for us to think about than someone's low opinion."
"It just bothers me, because you're my friend." There was a longer silence than the last.
"I...know, Milo," Camus finally said. "But even if the others believe I am worthless, I know that you, and Athena, and all the people who matter, believe otherwise." Milo nodded.
"I'm glad you think that way." The Scorpio Saint suddenly cocked a grin. "I'm still going to beat them up next time though."
