1  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: ...the reason why most of us watch Omega... on: July 08, 2012, 07:51:51 PM
My number one reason for watching it is for any glimpse of the original characters. With my lack of being able to complete the original, and the small moments of is it ND that they show up in... I never see the characters I love! So that is my number one.

Story wise, yeah. It's slow. But it has the same story elements that all the StS incarnations have. Corruption, evil silver saints (seriously... always evil and getting their butts kicked early in the game save a handful) and the Pegasus saint being entirely focused on Athena and that relationship. When you break it down its the same, and I've seen worse.

I actually like watching it every week, but it's the episodes where Shun showed up or with detail into Ryuho's background to catch a glimpse of Shiryu that get me flailing. Now I just need to get some news on Hyoga... haha.
2  The Sanctuary / Saint Seiya Fan Fiction / Re: Informal fanfic opinion poll on: June 07, 2012, 03:09:33 PM
Really? The StS section on Fanfiction.net always felt extremely limited to me. I remember almost every other fanfic being something Seiya/Soari based (pairing I hate from hating Saori in general) and some form of cross over. The ones I'd read were usually poorly written grammatically or dialog wise. Of course, I have my own poorly written HyogaxShun on that site I wrote in middle school that I would have taken off by now if I didn't want to lose the reviews I have on it. haha. Though it's shamefully poor quality to me now in pacing. Of course, Sts bronze pairings were always hard to find, probably because of their ages in hindsight. Goldies seemed to be all over the place. Besides the point though for me :3. I used to read a lot of fanfiction in many fandoms. Across the board it is really hard to find good fictions.
3  The Sanctuary / Saint Seiya Fan Fiction / Re: Informal fanfic opinion poll on: June 06, 2012, 08:21:14 PM
To contribute to the poll. *points to Avatar* I think that explains my tendency towards Yaoi in StS.  shun hyoga

I want to make a comment on this statement, however:

I didn't like like the Sts fanfics, that I read in the past, that have yaoi in them because the author wanted to make a couple out of two Saints.  .  .  . I like to develop relationships between Saints of of opposite sex (which forces me to develop new characters, as you imagine !)

I'm not saying this to be confrontational, just curious. Wouldn't creating a character to pair a canon character with be just as bad/good as forcing a non-canon relationship in the same sex? In my mind I don't see them as being very different. In fact, I tend to run away from any fanfiction that pairs character/OC because typically that means Mary Sues and forced love interests just as bad as the worst yaoi/yuri. Either way it's preference :3 but that statement just kinda made me... want to discuss... though in fear of completely dragging a "poll" thread off topic, haha.

I do agree though with the Uke/Seme roles being annoying, though they fit on some anime character stereotypes. Why else do people say they can see Shun, Aphrodite, and Misty as believable gay characters? They appear girly. lol. The role should fit the characters. But I am always open to reading how a meek character could be turned forceful through the course of a story :3

Granted, I've mostly given up on reading fanfics. Too much poorly written blah (or my tastes have just matured since I was 13 Tongue) to bother with anymore. Stumbling on a really good story though is always great though.
4  Saint Seiya / Anime / Re: best DVD set for all episodes and movies? on: June 01, 2012, 10:07:37 PM
If you're talking legit DVDs with english language/subtitles than trying to find the boxsets for the ADV release would be your best bet. But they only had up to episode 60. After that, there is no good quality DVD set to purchase. The best you will come across is a Hong Kong bootleg with iffy subtitles, missing outro or intro (I forget which was cut at the moment), and general bad quality.

Any other DVDs with better subtitles would be someone selling DVDs of otherwise free fansubs that existed and probably doesn't cover the entire series either, that they downloaded and burned onto DVDs.

As far as any other languages, I'm not sure.
5  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 8!! on: May 21, 2012, 10:52:57 AM
Interesting episode so far. We now have the standard corrupted Gold Saint. A mind controlled "Fake Athena" and now the students of Palestra are going to have to fight the darkness to escape and band together. We have plot movement :3 Though this fake Athena strikes me as the stock female I hate of "I have power I can't use. But look how sweet and innocent I am. Please save me while the world uses me as it pleases. I'm useless on my own." And I really am ready to have someone burn that carriage. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does. It just doesn't fit the world :/. I guess Mar's has charmed horses >.<

Though at least we have new bad-ass bronze boy coming in. I am curious about the whole "moving sanctuary" though. More so what the point of it is. Guess we'll find out next week. And I really hope we get some more of our classic characters in soon.
6  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 7!! on: May 13, 2012, 06:04:40 PM
Good episode :3 I see the cut budget on episode 6 translated to better animation where it counted. I think the only "WTF" moment in this episode for me was the ... flying horse drawn buggy.... with sparkles....WHAT?! Where did that come from!? Since when does Sanctuary= descending from Mt. Olympus and using a girly version of Orion's chariot to travel to wherever they are? That was the only moment of me staring at the screen and wondering what made them decide to use this. (Well, that and when Yuna's transformation got the standard Magical Girl shiny lip gloss sparkle treatment Tongue) I really enjoyed this episode though.

@Taco o' Tragedy: It seems obvious from our end. But to Kouga he doesn't really know Geki's relation to Athena. And the few people he's mentioned it too have pretty much written it off for him to bother talking to anyone else. Ryuho if anything I would have thought would bring it up since he realized that Kouga knew about Saori, and Ryuho is probably the only other next-gen saint to know her real identity. Of course, I don't remember if Kouga bothered to tell Ryuho that Saori was kidnapped at that time either. I think Kouga's view right now is that it's safer to keep the issue to himself for now.

Girl ^^  kinda nice to see us winning the poll so far 8D
8  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 6!! on: May 08, 2012, 09:35:06 PM
Well, I hope it pulls something different at least. I gave up on Naruto early, so I don't know where that was pulled, haha. But I think it could be better than "Kouga wins!" I do hope he loses if it continues, and I almost don't want something to interrupt it just because that's... what happened already in the classic. Good once, they reference directly a LOT of things so far (Shiana's speech to Kouga, Kouga's 'I don't want to be a saint' attitude ala Seiya in the first few episodes, the Galaxian Wars and Saint Fight) but I think that might just be too exactly similar if Mar's shows up to disrupt the tournament just like Ikki did. At this point, he doesn't have much he could do. There isn't something to steal (that we know about) yet, and he as far as we know has Saori already unless she actually got away. He's just trolling the Saint Fights, haha. xD

I'll just have to wait and see how it plays out... but I really hope the rest of the fights, however long, are better than in this episode. And doesn't end with Kouga winning.
9  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 6!! on: May 08, 2012, 02:35:12 PM
Its been said, but this episode was much less rewarding than the others. I'm hoping the Saint Fights don't fall into teh standard Shonen battle style. Even though the classic had the Galaxian Wars, they were pretty much Null-and-void after Ikki showed up. It mostly served to introduce the characters and relationships. If they really keep going with this tournament as the "lets win the shiny prize! Underdog gets stronger and wins! Yaaaaay!" I'll be disappointed. It's so used and predictable. Unless Kouga loses it. I hope it gets interrupted somehow. Next weeks episode should be good though. Seiya shattering Geki's arms and all in their fights xD.

The other thing I noticed though, and maybe it's because I just noticed and it's been there all along. The animation was REALLY bad in this episode except for close-ups. Maybe I just noticed it more this episode, I know the style is different and updated and whatever. I'm used to seeing the very simplified and streamlined styles, I watch current things. But the animation was just SLOPPY in this. Stare at Yuna and Ryuho's faces when they are talking at the table. The line work is shaky at best. It was only good when they had a still close up. *shakes head*
10  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 5!! on: May 03, 2012, 06:37:14 PM
I guess I missed that particular line then. I don't remember him saying that. I can see where you see a similar bit with Ryuho and Kouga though and Ryuho helping him. I guess I don't read that as much because Kouga at the moment is the character with potential but is very weak to his cosmos, where Ryuho seems to be seen as this prodigy almost in the school. Wherease Yuna is an established strong character turning weaker. Ryuho's plan worked and Yuna's didn't.

Maybe a bit of a double edged sword. I see the similarity, but I think the effectiveness differed greatly and that changes how I saw the character at that moment.

Ryuho I saw as more of trying to be the catalyst, where Yuna seemed to be aiming more towards the protector which backfired on her. Good intentions though on both parts.
11  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 5!! on: May 03, 2012, 01:14:33 PM
Maybe haughty isn't the right word, but she does have pride. She may have said she considers Ryuho powerful in his own right, but the timing of her offer (the whole coughing thing and OH i'll help) made it seem more of a sympathy card for the weaker person.
12  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 5!! on: May 03, 2012, 08:42:16 AM
True. I think they could have chosen a better scenario to prove Ryuho's strength. Or at least some nice fight rather than her twisting her ankle :/ I think Yuna's offering to help though showed a bit more to her personality if you think about it though, so it was in a way needed to pair them together.

She's proud, helpful, and maybe a little full of herself that she thought she would protect another "weaker" saint and it came back to bite her. Her intentions were good but haughty. It just would have been nice to give them a better battle to finish it off instead of pulling the damsel in distress, which really doesn't make Ryuho seem stronger, but makes Yuna look weaker than Ryuho. And Ryuho a little smarter too that he didn't fall off the edge.

Ice wall: I really would have loved to see Kouga's reaction to someone frozen in ice! The few other bronze saints all: "Oh! That's where we put Hyoga! Sorry man." lmao. Little too comical for this xD. But still. Would have been great.
13  Like To Chat? / Anime/Manga / Re: Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers on: May 03, 2012, 12:25:23 AM
^ I love Samurai Troopers. I do. But it isn't everyone's cup of tea. The similarities are there between STS and ST but it isn't that close. It's classic cheesy early 90's/late 80's anime that I truly think I love so much because it's a childhood favorite and I'm still a fan of the sentai based series. haha. (I can even tolerate the english Sailor Moon dub because I grew up with it! Nostalgia helps. haha)

Put it this way. If you can remember not to take it TOO seriously, it's a nice watch for what it is. It was extended greatly so the characters don't get very well developed. It was a series that shot off unexpectedly - I think it was a 1 or 2 vol manga where everyone initially died? from what I've heard. Never been able to find it - so it has it's weak spots. I think it has less plot holes than STS though, funnily enough. If you like Super Sentai-esque series give it a try. If not... see if you can get through a couple episodes if you're so inclined to try it out.

That's my two sense :3
14  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 5!! on: May 03, 2012, 12:18:20 AM
@ Leorio: I don't know if they played up the "oh help me I twisted my ankle" to really put Yuna/Ryuho together just yet (maybe they will get paired. Too early to tell). I do think it was amusing that you could see in he beginning her intention was "Oh I'll help him because he'll never make it through!" and yet it showed that even though he is the perceived physically "weakest" character, he isn't weak. I think that scene was maybe cliche'd and degrading to the whole female-saint concept, but the idea was needed to show that Ryuho isn't just some weak chain because his body isn't the healthiest.

I did really like that bit. It showed a nice side to the characters rather subtly, though the whole episode could have used a bit more danger. It did seem like a cake-walk for all of them... such a big, scary test for the saints. Get through the woods... unimpressive. Enjoyable over all... but really? The classic characters went through more hellish training than that :/

Granted, the thousand year wall of ice made me wonder how they transported that from Siberia xD I was half expecting to see Hyoga chilling in there if the rumors were true. haha.
15  Saint Seiya / Saint Seiya Omega / Re: Omega Ep 5!! on: April 30, 2012, 04:55:58 PM
Alrighty. That bit just had me racking my brain trying to think if there was a silver saint left at the end of the classic that could have been the father that I wasn't remembering.
